Gear wheels

During a restoration of a car the dashboard instruments were in miles. The factory had made some samples with kilometers for Europe but those were not for sale anywhere.
At the request of the customer Bart Holland’s instrumentation department made a new instrument glass plate engraved in kilometers.

The odometer however kept showing miles. The customer asked that the odometer also should show kilometers. In order to rebuild the odometer from miles to kilometers, new calculations had to be made so that with new gear wheels the odometer would show in kilometers.


The pictures show how the kilometer plate has been made and how the gear wheels were calculated and show the technical drawings.
Also one can see how the gearwheels (red colour) are made and mounted into the gearwheel house.
